This bill ("guissarme" in French, "ronca" or "rancone" in Italian, "Hippe" in German) is based on examples in use from the beginning of the 15th century to the early 18th in Western Europe. This particular shaped bill is commonly known as "English".
Though there is no real consensus on the difference in head shape between the two, George Silver specified in his Paradoxes of Defence (1599) that the black bill should be 5 or 6 feet (1.5 or 1.8 m) long, while the forest bill should be 8 or 9 feet (2.4 or 2.7 m) long.
We advise you to mount this simulator on a 3 cm (1-1/4") diameter round or octagonal haft, as well as to add a heel blunt, both of which are also sold on our site.
